Any places good to see in VIC?
Too many to list in total!

I've got a soft spot for Maldon

Echuca is historic, as are Glen Rowan and Beechworth.

I tend to stick to the coast. Wye River on the Great Ocean Road is quaint. Anglesea a bit more touristy. Surf at Bells Beach.

Then there is Gippsland. I love Walhalla, Paynesville and Marlo.

Ah, the list goes on and on and on.

My advise is to just drive and explore. There is so much to see and do.

Of course there are many great places to visit in NSW. I grew up on the Mid North Coast and it has a lot to offer the tourist:

If you are into beaches try Port Macquarie, Nambucca Heads, Urunga, Coffs Harbour

If you are into the hinterlands try Dorrigo and Bellingen

I flew from Melbourne to London in April just gone and was told to wait until November to buy a ticket because that's when all the airlines come out with their special rates. I ended up flying with Emirates and it cost me just under $2000 by the time you factor in taxes and such. It wasn't the cheapest fare available, but was certainly at the right end of the scale.

No mate . just get used to crap beer.and stay clear of Kings Cross at night.. !!
Check your local health department. Sometimes they don't even charge if you need something.
Depends where you stop on the way there. Australia's ok but they'll spray you in the plane before they let you get off. And King's Cross at night ain't that bad - go to the backpacker's car mart in the multi storey car park for great deals.
Only if your visiting a country six days prior to landing in Australia that you have to have the yellow fever injection for, Singapore and Hong Kong are two of those places, but your local supermarket pharmacy like Asda has a list of any injections needed for any country, they will advise you and are always up to date, good luck
No you will not need any. However it does not mean you cant catch anything there, especially up north in the tropics, such as Dengue fever or Ross river fever. Take mozzy repellent with you to make sure you don't end up ill eh. Have a fun time :O)

Any ideas on how to emigrate to NZ with out a recognised trade?

Any ideas on how to emigrate to NZ with out a recognised trade?
Practically impossible! I've checked myself and it seems you need to have a degree or have a required trade to do so.

Basically you have a lot of form filling to do. It's best to speak to the NZ immigration services - they'll help you out.
Any ideas on how to emigrate to NZ with out a recognised trade?
    Swim.
    Swim.
Depends on your age and adaptability, good start is to go for long time seasonal work - fruit picking and look around a bit. Best is come here as student and later apply for the status. Be carefull NZ is a biggest village on the world and not all is the best.
My immigration in this country was a biggest mistake of my life - this country will be economically and culturally death soon. Maori causing similar problems like black people in South Africa.
They often bend the rules for fruit pickers, as there's a labour shortage. The reason being that the pay isn't all that great and it's often hard to find accommodation. Which country do you come from and what is your first language? Try a firm called Farm Key, which fixes farm workers up with jobs in NZ. And our Immigration Dept. has a list of job skills which are in demand in NZ, which is updated every 6 months. Not all these jobs are highly skilled. And if you want to spend a few cheap months in NZ checking the country out, try WWOOFing (Willing Worker On Organic Farms). You hitch hike around NZ staying on organic farms. You work for a few hours a day in exchange for your board.
Come over for six months on your passport. then fall in love (or not) marry a New Zealand national and bobs your uncle!

Its very cold here at the moment. think twice. The grass is not always greener on the other side, just different.

Good luck. and no I am already married :-)

It is in the downtown area with more attractions and conveniences to offer than most other places. If you are looking for a urban location go for it. Remember, after office hours downtown Auckland doesn't exactly swing, but the locale is about as close as you can get to it.

HAHAHAHAHAH.so YOU'RE the person spreading the kangaroo rumour!

Unless you stumble on some horny backpackers you'll probably not see any ** on the streets. The only kangaroos you'll see in the cities are the ones adorning the t-shirts of middle aged tourists.

Careful about standing near trees though, those koala's can be vicious.

Am going to Australiia in 4 weeks - what clothes do I need to take?

Am going to Australiia in 4 weeks - what clothes do I need to take?
It depends on part of Australia you are going. If you plan to be around Melbourne/Sydney it will be cooler. If you are going to be up around Queensland, it will be still quite warm, around the mid 20s C.
Am going to Australiia in 4 weeks - what clothes do I need to take?
Being in the southern hemisphere, Its winter time there. Warm sweaters a must.
Have a safe and happy trip. :)
Being in the southern hemisphere, Its winter time there. Warm sweaters a must.
Have a safe and happy trip. :)
weather is great here depends on where your staying bring mostly shorts shirts and a couple of jumpers and pants you can get away with wearing shorts and a jumper or pants and a shirt in most states! where you staying and for how long?
Depends on where exactly you would be going in Australia - if you are going to north Queensland or Darwin(tropical) it will be mild and great weather but I presume you'll be in Sydney/Melbourne and south of the country, so bring some warm clothes as it's winter. It never gets as low as zero degrees (Celcius) during the day though so if you are used to a European/American winter you should have no troubles.
If you are going to the northern tropical regions of QLD, WA or NT then all you need are swimmers, summer clothing and a light cardigan.
If you are venturing down to the southern areas NSW, VIC, SA or TAS bring warm clothing as it is winter in these areas.
TAS is extremely cold so it is best to bring clothing suitable for snow conditions.
I have lived in both zones and the tropics are by far the best for climate but the southern areas are the better for things to do and see.
Whatever and wherever you choose HAVE A GREAT TIME IN OZ.
warm clothes if your on the southern end, and tropical happy joy joy stuff id you're north
    No clothes please

Do the Bridge Climb up the Sydney Harbour Bridge - you won't be disappointed.
    Atleast, travel light.
    learn the language
The best advice I can give is don't do it!

Traveling is highly over rated, and most tiring, you are much better off investing in a Large Screen High Definition Color Television, sitting in front of it with your sweetie, and watching the travel channel, besides being capable of visiting many places, they can also take you under water in the coral reefs and every ware else, and you don't have to worry about airline schedules, plane crashes, loosing your luggage, and every other thing which usually goes wrong.

It often seems to me that traveling is more exhausting than working, yes I would say that a nice home retreat would be far more relaxing, and much more safe, especially with the chaos which is afoot today.

Accommodation for school groups in Brisbane?

Accommodation for school groups in Brisbane?
It depends when you are coming and for how long. If your stay occurs during a holiday period, you may be able to book accommodation in a boarding school or university residence, which is probably the best and cheapest bet. Otherwise, contact education Queensland (www.education.qld.gov.au) for suggestions.
Accommodation for school groups in Brisbane?
It depends on the size of the group. If its 10-20 people, try ringing backpacker places(like www.bunkbrisbane.com.au). If its larger, you will be lucky to find accomodation together.

You can try stopping over in Singapore on your way down to NZ, spend some time in a multi-racial country and enjoy the zoo and bird park. These places are world standard. From here, you probably need more than a week in NZ to see the sights. There are quite a fair bit of distances between places.
On your return leg, do a stop in Bangkok and go sightseeing in a nice land. Different culture and lots of sights in the city. Try their delicious Thai food. And not to forget shopping. Weather is getting cool so it will not be too warm to walk around the flea market and night market and shopping mall.
a route to take to New Zealand we have 3 weeks holiday to take in Nov and want to see as much as possible?
You may stop-over in Singapore, but don't fall into the trap by trying 'to see as much as possible' First you need to get acclimatised and you won't do that in 3 weeks. Take things steady, drink more fluids than you're used to (I don't mean beer or liquor). You may find you will have to have a holiday for rest and recuperation when you return. Have a nice trip.

Yes, Australia has many virile men.
Caution: They're top three priorities are:
    1. Drink Beer with their male friends (Mates)
    2. Get into a fight
    3. Go home and have sex.

I held a door open for an Australian girl, she immediately assumed I was American.and gave me her phone number.
A friend told me there are tons of gorgeous single guys in australia and I should go on vacation there. true?
    That's Alaska, not Australia.

But Australia has excellent surfing and there's the Great Barrier Reef to dive on, and plenty of bars etc.

4 days, a car, 2 kids. Where can we go?

I am living in Sydney, Australia and have 4 days holiday over the Easter long weekend. Since my partner and I will be off work and need to relax, we are thinking about a trip. With two small children, flying is a nightmare. Where would be some places suitable to travel via car? :)
4 days, a car, 2 kids. Where can we go?
Where ever you go make sure you book first as Easter is peak holiday time. The central coast (The Entrance, Terrigal) or south coast (Kiama, Ulladulla, Bega) are both nice & not far from Sydney. A little further up the coast is Nambucca Heads, one of my favourite spots. All are great family destinations.
4 days, a car, 2 kids. Where can we go?
I reckon the Hunter Valley is good if you like wine and relaxing, not too far to travel either. And it doesn't matter what the weather is like.
Alternatively Nelson Bay is nice if you want the beach and sun kinda atmosphere, more hectic though.
Hope you come to a good decision. When you vote for your answer let us know where you picked! Thanks

  • 3/5 Day Kakadu Trip,Australia(Adventure)?

A trip for energetic @ active over 50s,not into coach travel @ easy options. Not a trip limited to 18-35s only.
    3/5 Day Kakadu Trip,Australia(Adventure)?
If your not into coach travel,(dont blame you for that)-then you have several other options.you can hire a 4 wheel drive and go it alone--not recomended, simply because you could break down up there.there are groups that get together with several vehicles and some hire motor homes or tow a pop up caravan,if your from the states,i think you call them trailers.you are thinking of visiting our far north, you have to aquire permits for certain areas,as there is a lot of aboriginal land up there.this is not a problem.it is a magnificent journey, you will never regret it.just fly to perth western australia and get to your nearest travel agency for options, or do your planning before you leave.as for age,it is a way of life here in australia to retire and do this north west trip.you will be constantly camping and chatting with retirees good luck.

2 questions. does it snow in australia, and how do they get their water( desalinazation ?)?
yes it snows in australia in the mountains in new south wales & victoria & in tasmania sometimes the other parts of the country dont get snow weter comes from rivers & dams like everywhere else
2 questions. does it snow in australia, and how do they get their water( desalinazation ?)?
Much of the East coast of Australia gets snow, but only in alpine regions, generally away from the major cities.

Most of the water supplies are from regular catchment areas and I'm certainly not aware of desalinisation being an issue.

"TAnswer.com" just published the wrong answer to a question. Is "TAnswer.com" a crock?

Tanagila45 asked, "What is the Capitol of Australia?", and picked the best answer as, "canabera", which was wrong. Tanagila45 meant the Capital of course and it's Canberra, of course. A simple question which would require very little effort on Tanagila45's part to find the answer.
"TAnswer.com" just published the wrong answer to a question. Is "TAnswer.com" a crock?
It's actually the fault of the person who asked the question and chose that response as the best answer. I don't think Yahoo can be responsible for correcting every dumb person on this site. That job would require more effort than is humanly possible, I would expect. I agree that it is annoying when stupid or wrong answers are chosen as the best when clearly there are more deserving responses. I also hate it when someone answers the question wrong and I answer correctly then the person before me comes back clicks edit and then copies what I wrote. That is somewhat unrelated to this so I will just be quiet now, I just felt like a bit of a rant.
"TAnswer.com" just published the wrong answer to a question. Is "TAnswer.com" a crock?
i think so but im too addicted to answering other peoples stupid questions to give a damn
i think so but im too addicted to answering other peoples stupid questions to give a damn
That's the power of user contributed content. You get so much great questions and answers and then there are some poor ones like you highlighted.

We are better off with the service than without it though.

The ratings system is designed to highlight poor Q&A as well. If you think it is a poor answer you can rate it as such - I just did!

What do you mean *(stars) in Australia?
Sure. It happens all the time. The only problem is that the thousands of kangaroos hopping through the middle of the city streets occasionally get in the way.

I was in Australia four years ago and didn't see much of any "public action" as it were, but a few of my travel mates were talking to a few Australians about a drink called "screaming orgasm" so that's the closest they got to "public action."

The Victoria Police are always looking for new recruits, as are the many security companies, such as Chubb. If you want to join the police though, you'll need to go through some training at the Police Academy in the suburb of Mt Waverly.

If its larger, you will be lucky to find accomodation together.

a route to take to New Zealand we have 3 weeks holiday to take in Nov and want to see as much as possible?

We leave from Edinburgh or Glasgow and would like to spend 1 week in New Zealand and visit somewhere else on the journey out and the same on the return journey
a route to take to New Zealand we have 3 weeks holiday to take in Nov and want to see as much as possible?

    1. Drink Beer with their male friends (Mates)
    2. Get into a fight
    3. Go home and have sex.

Thanks

The ratings system is designed to highlight poor Q&A as well. If you think it is a poor answer you can rate it as such - I just did!

This is better. A trip planner from the Royal Queensland Auto Club:

    http://www.racq.com.au/cps/rde/xchg/racq_cms_production/hs.xsl/trip_planner_ENA_HTML.htm

Click on the adv. tab and type in where you want to go, and via where and it plots the route and gives all the details like time and distance.
if you get on the motorway, bypass the city, go over the gateway and keep on goin on the bruce h'way - that'd be the quickest way to go - not so sure about back streets -

If you are into the hinterlands try Dorrigo and Bellingen

    sell of.com
    sell of.com
Try "LastMinute.com" and "Opodo" from page below.

Any jabs needed for Australia? malaria etc.?

Any jabs needed for Australia? malaria etc.?
Australia is one of the cleanest and strictest countries in the world when it comes to quarantine.
Depends where you are coming from so I would check before you leave.

No mate . just get used to crap beer.and stay clear of Kings Cross at night.. !!
No mate . just get used to crap beer.and stay clear of Kings Cross at night..

I have no Trade or skill Pathetic i know
Any ideas on how to emigrate to NZ with out a recognised trade?

Any comments about Scotia Place, Auckland?

I will be moving to Auckland, NZ end of this month.
My office will be @ Airedale street, so I am looking a place to stay nearby.
Can help me to comment about Scotia Place? Is it a good area to stay? any concern etc..?
    thanks guys
Any comments about Scotia Place, Auckland?
It is in the downtown area with more attractions and conveniences to offer than most other places. If you are looking for a urban location go for it. Remember, after office hours downtown Auckland doesn't exactly swing, but the locale is about as close as you can get to it.
